Integrating knowledge

Required credits: 12

The Certificate Program in Breeding for Organic Crops will integrate knowledge in organic crop production with fundamental concepts in genetics and decision making in plant breeding, enabling students to develop strategies to breed crops for the organic market. This program is designed for organic farmers, undergraduates in agronomy and related programs, and individuals working in agricultural related areas in the private or public sector (e.g., in plant breeding and non-plant breeding areas), who intend to pursue post-baccalaureate studies. The proposed graduate certificate program will be based on four courses, two of which are part of the MS Distance Plant Breeding Program. The other two (distance) courses are AGRON 542 and AGRON 584 which address organic crop production and breeding.
